Site Wide Events
A free for all for everyone to participate in! Multiple threads may exist that take place during this event, and you may thread with whomever you wish. Examples are festivals, competitions, and natural disasters.
Mini Events
Events that users of any level can participate in, but only members level two and up may create. Members may propose and host these events on their own with approval from an Admin or Mod. These events are usually small, but do have an effect on those involved, usually character development or relationship building. Examples are: a pilgrimage to a temple for training or healing, a summoner's first attempt at summoning, parties/gatherings, solving minor mysteries/thefts, or physical altercations between characters.
Minor Events
Only characters level two and up may participate in these events except under special circumstances. Members may propose and host these events on their own with approval from an Admin or Mod. Examples include: a character undergoing the rite to become a healer, trying to take the position of a numbered General, proposing laws, forming a group (a religious movement, political group, etc), solving larger crimes (or framing someone for a crime), etc.
Major Events
Major events change things for everyone in Easthaven, not just those involved. Only characters level three and up may participate, except under special circumstances. These events include visions for the Oracles, any attempt on a character's life, acts of rebellion, changes in Council members (via impeachment, murder, or natural death), or the actual council vote regarding new laws. These may only be moderated by a Mod, Admin, or someone with two characters that are level three or above, since the ramifications of the resolution may affect the country as a whole.
Extreme Events
These events are only initiated in the case that:
1. An oracle dies
2. All council members die or resign
3. A coup is attempted
Only those connected directly to what is happening will be involved. More to come if this comes up.
How events work:
Each event will be a little bit different, as each person running the event will have their own style. Essentially, the event must have some kind of goal or occurrence to be focused around. For example 'catching the thief' as a goal, or an 'the Oracle palace is under attack' for occurrence. By the end of the event, there must be a resolution. For example, whether the thief is caught or escapes, that result is final and becomes canon for this world.
Once you get started with your goal or occurrence, the moderator of that particular event will direct participants through a series of choices. These can happen in a variety of ways, but every choice has some kind of consequence. These can be determined by what the character chooses to do (ie: there is a right and a wrong choice, or they pick one of three doors), by random number generator (each participant has an assigned number, which then are selected by the generator), by having members pick a number between 1 and X (maybe all even numbers get one consequence, prime numbers another, odd numbers another, etc), or by rolling a dice. Feel free to be creative with both your methods and your consequences if you are moderating. Consequences can be anything from a bug bite to losing a limb, or anything else. Only quests that are major or higher may kill the participants, and participants must be aware of that possibility before they begin.
If you interested in moderating a quest, or simply have an idea you'd like to share, please fill out the form below and send it to kiki as a PM.
